One of the most frequently asked questions that I get is how to prepare for your photo shoot. That and what to wear!
I’ve written a couple times about what to wear and how to prepare for various photo shoots. But since I was doing my own maternity photo shoot, I thought it would be the perfect time to talk to you about how to prepare for your photo shoot.
This video originally was an Instagram story, but I figured it would be perfect for the blog as well.

How to Prepare for your Photo Shoot
How to prepare for your photo shoot is actually pretty simple. There isn’t that much that you have to keep in mind.
If I had to narrow it down to three top things I would say:
- Make sure everyone has eaten
- If you have small kids, put the phone away. Do not use it as a bribe unless you want it to be in the photos or you want to deal with lots of tears. Instead bring small treats – M&Ms, gummy worms, anything quick and not to messy
- Don’t be afraid to be silly!
Follow along as I get ready for my own maternity photo shoot! I’ll explain how I prepare for my photo shoot as well as how you can prepare for yours.
In this video, I explain how to prepare yourself and your family for a variety of photo shoots. I give you some tips on how to make sure everyone is ready and won’t be antsy and even some tips for keeping the kids content during the photo shoot.
If you have any questions at all, please reach out to me! I’d love to be a resource as you prepare for your photo shoot.
