We always seem to have left over wood from various projects and I’m always trying to find a use for it.
Why not create some fun Christmas ornaments. These can be used as gifts, or to decorate at home. Would be fun to make for kids and allow them to decorate themselves!

John found a band saw at a garage sale a few years ago, and so we’ve been trying to come up with excuses to use it. This is was one of those projects.

Tips for Making Wooden Ornaments
Trace Ornament Shapes First
I can’t actually draw all that well. So most of the time, I find a template online, or I use software to create one.
Print out some ornament shapes you like, cut them out, and then trace them onto your wood. This will make cutting the wood a lot easier.
Sand Your Pieces
Be sure to sand all the little pieces! It helps to make the edges smoother and will help finish off the project.
Experiment
At first I tried to use my wood burner, and I didn’t love how it turned out.
So I decided to paint. And I thought it turned out much cuter.
Don’t be afraid to experiment and try new things! Even if they don’t turn out exactly as you’d hoped.
Painting the ornaments is great to do with the kids too!
