Plane Travel with a Toddler

Plane travel with a toddler is definitely not for the faint of heart, although, neither is driving long distances with a toddler. I am a typical type A personality. I always research and plan, pretty much every major or minor decision in my life. As I’ve gotten older, I’ve gotten a little bit better with this, but when it comes to something like a cross country flight, I went a bit overboard. After much research, this is how I survived our cross country flight and I’ll write later about a few of the things I wish I’d done differently.

Packing for D.C. – Traveling with a toddler

Traveling with a Toddler

I’ve always thought of myself as an expert packer, even though I have almost no experience in packing for long trips. But since we’ve always lived in small homes and I grew up going camping, I’ve gotten used to cramming a lot of things in small places. Since I’d never traveled with a toddler though I was a little overwhelmed. I read as much on the internet about traveling with a toddler as I possibly could. My searching led me to Trips with Tykes and I fell in love. I devoured every single one of their posts. Since we were going to visit family we had already planned on them getting a few of the things we would need while we were there, but there were still a lot of things that we needed to pack.

D.C. and Baltimore Recap

We had so much fun on our D.C. and Baltimore trip! It was long and Bugs actually did so much better than even I expected. We tried our best to stay on our same schedule, so even though we were in D.C. we stayed on California time. That meant we got a little bit of a late start every day, but it also meant we got to stay out later than usual and see a little bit of the nightlife! We stayed at the Westin City Center and loved it. It was so great. Our room was awesome! We actually stayed in the Atrium suite and it had the cutest little balcony. After Bugs went down, hubs and I would sit on the balcony and play cards. It was a nice way to relax after walking all day. We stayed 3 days in D.C. and then went to visit hubs family in Baltimore and spent another 3 days at their home. We pretty much just went, went, went the entire time we were there. Here are some of my favorite pictures from the trip!

About Me

Life with a Toddler

I realized it’s been a little while since I gave you a glimpse into my life. Life with a toddler is so much different than life with a baby! I’m cherishing every new stage, but I definitely am enjoying the toddler stage much more. That doesn’t mean that it is any less challenging though. My little man is consistently on the go. He’s a little daredevil too! Never wanting to sit still and always have to be busy.

Lumberjack Birthday Party Decor

John and I handmade so many items for Bug’s lumberjack birthday party that it couldn’t all fit in one post! I showed you a little bit of the decor in my last post about his lumberjack birthday party. I wanted to show you a little more of the decoration that we made for his party and also give you access to some free lumberjack birthday party printables!

Lumberjack Cake Smash

My baby is one! It’s so crazy that he is already one year old! Because I’m so crazy and excited about him being one, I went a little overboard. I wrote a couple weeks ago about some cake smash themes for boys and girls and said I had picked a Lumberjack cake smash theme for Bugs cake smash. When I originally picked this theme, I had no idea that it was so popular! Searching for props for photo shoots is definitely one of my favorite parts of themed shoots.

How I lost 70 Pounds on the Paleo Diet

Paleo Diet

As I mentioned in my other blog post, I made a new years resolution to get into shape, while leading a busy life as a new dad. While these first couple weeks have had ups and downs, I have to say I am happy with my progress this far. But this isn’t an update, not quite yet. I wanted to share with you the journey that led me to enjoy exercise and see the true benefit of a healthy diet.

The Advice I wish I would have Listen To

I can’t believe it’s already been a year. My little man is officially a year old a time has just flown by! This past weekend we had his first birthday party and I can’t wait to share it with you. But now that it’s been a year, I find myself reminiscing a lot. Thinking back to those first few months, and I’m still not totally sure how we survived. I’m so thankful for our support system. It’s the whole reason we moved back to Glendora, and although it was a little bit of a rough transition, it has been so good for our family. While reminiscing and going through items for his party, I thought back to my baby shower and all the advice I received while pregnant. In those first few months, it was just about surviving. But now, I look back and realize how much I should have listened to.

2017 Fitness Goals

As I sit here, reflecting on the past year and looking forward to the next, I am reminded of the ever so dreaded New Years Resolution. My life changed this year when I became a dad for the first time. I have learned so much this past year and there are moments that I will remember forever. But there is one thing in my life that has slipped through the cracks. It is something that I am extremely passionate about and that I want to make a priority again. That thing is fitness and exercise. I am by no means “ripped” or “cut”, nor have I ever been. Instead, I have earned the prized “dad bod”. While I am lucky enough to have a wife who loves me even if I have that amazing pear shaped gut, fitting in a workout is still something that is important to me.
