Best Games for Toddlers and Preschoolers

Sharing is caring!

Toddlers and preschoolers can be so hard to shop for! If you’re kids are anything like mine, they probably already have more than enough toys. And with a holiday like Christmas coming up, you know they’ll get plenty more. I like to get the kids games that we can play as a family. Here are some of the best games for toddlers and preschoolers.

Best Games for Toddlers and Preschoolers

1. Roll and Play Dice Your Child’s First Game

This Roll and Play dice game is fun for the whole family! We love this game! I got it for my daughter last year for Christmas and it’s the perfect game for an 18 month old.

The dice is big and the kids love throwing it around the room. My son got a little bored with some of the cards, but it’s still a really fun family game that can be played over and over.

2. Stacking Board Games

We have a stacking block set like this that the kids really like. They knock it down pretty quickly though and then want it put right back up. We’ve been having them practice putting it back up themselves. It’s fun to use as just blocks too.

3. Dragon Snacks

Highly highly recommend this game! So much fun. Perfect for 2 years old and older. The dragon is so cute.

The goal of the game is simple, and the dragon makes funny noises that the kids love. There’s no real winner or loser and the kids can play this game all by themselves.

Something to note though, it does have to be fairly dark for the game to work. It’s has a sensor that you wave your hand in front of to signal to the dragon you’re ready to play. If it’s too bright the dragon can’t see your hand. You can’t play this game outside, but it’s perfect for an indoor rainy day game!

4. Frozen 2 Surprise Slides

Getting this one for Little Miss this year. The kids are both obsessed with Frozen and this seems like a fairly straight forward game to play.

5. Candy Land

Candy Land is a classic. My kids love it. It’s perfect for younger kids too because the rules are bendable.

6. Matching Game

We bought this for Christmas last year and the kids have really enjoyed playing it. The Disney characters are fun and easily recognizable. It’s fun and simple for my 2 year old and still challenging and entertaining for my 4 year old.

7. Chutes and Ladders

Chutes and Ladders is another classic. Can’t go wrong with these games! We have one of the originals, but I love these character ones!

8. Go Fish

Who doesn’t love Go Fish. And these cards are so cute. Card games would make perfect stocking stuffers too! Be sure to check out my list on the best stocking stuffer ideas!

9. Domino’s

I’m getting these for my son this year. Domino’s is such a fun classic game and I love this twist. Should be easier to play and hopefully my daughter will enjoy playing with the cards as well.

10. Snail’s Pace

I don’t have this game, but it looks so good! If you haven’t been able to tell yet, I like games that have lax rules, are short, and can be played by a variety of ages.

Snail’s Pace looks simple enough, but like it’s still fun. I also love that no child has color and all colors can be moved depending on how the die is rolled. Definitely will be adding this one to our collection soon!

I hope you like this list of some of our favorite games and that it gave you some great ideas of what to buy this holiday season! I’d love to hear, what are some of your favorite games?
