My kitchen nook has been a long time coming. When we moved in two years ago I had no idea what I wanted to do. But slowly it has transformed.
At first the kitchen nook was nothing special. It had three chairs and one part of the round table was up against the wall.
Little Miss’ high chair was in the corner next to the table because there was no real way to pull it up against the table. This worked for us for a while, but I really wanted all of us to be able to sit at the table.
As the kids got older I knew we were going to need a different set up. I thought kitchen benches would look really cute in our space. Plus we definitely need the extra storage!

I reupholstered our kitchen chairs and then made a cushioned bench for the kitchen benches. But the fabric started to rip! So I had to come up with a new idea.
The kids were using the bench seat mainly while sitting at the table, and so I knew I needed something that would be easy to clean.
With that in mind, I decided to make a removable cover for the benches and some removable covers for the chairs. I also made some cute pillows for the bench out of rugs.
Then I refinished the kitchen table. I thought the table was so dark in the kitchen and wanted to lighten up the space.
I love the way the kitchen turned out! It looks so cute and cozy and our family loves having family meals gathered in this space.
