One of my favorite things, is when my whole family is in town and we can sit down for Sunday night dinner. When we all used to live near by, we’d do Sunday night dinners every week.

Now, my family is a little more spread out. But when we all get together, we make sure to have one big family meal, and we call it Sunday night dinner whether it’s Sunday or not!

With all the fall holidays, my family tends to be in town more frequently. So that gives me an extra reason to decorate!

When everyone is in town, we eat at this big oblong table that was my dads grandparents. For nightly meals, we usually eat at our small round kitchen table, be sure to check out this post for fall decorating ideas for a round table.

5 Ways to Decorate a Long Table for Fall

1. Red Table Runner

I love this table runner. It’s a lovely sheer runner with beaded tassels. My mom has had it for years. I figured it would make a beautiful base for my tablescape.

I then added these cute bottles I found in Target’s dollar section with some hydrangeas in them. These are the same bottles in my propagation station!

Then I added some white pumpkins strategically to finish it off. I’m all about simple tablescapes because I still want to be able to see everyone at the table!

2. Clear Vase

I took a big clear vase, filled it with white pumpkins and then added the hydrangeas. I scrunched up the red table runner and then put the vase in the center.

Then, I scattered some pumpkins all around. I like the runner in the center of the table so that people can sit on the ends. It’s always weird to have plates on the runner!

3. Simple Out of the Box Vase

You know what I love to do? Use out of the box containers for vases. This is a utensil holder, but I love the rustic feel.

It so very clearly screams fall. It reminds me of rusty old trucks and pumpkin patches.

I put a white beaded pumpkin runner down, added the utensil holder, and then plopped some hydrangeas from my backyard in the holder. Simple, easy, and perfect.

4. Pumpkins Galore

This just feels like fall to me. A beautiful arrangement of pumpkins stacked on top of one another.

It felt a little plain with just pumpkins. So I took some floral sticks that I had and added them to anchor the pumpkins.

The sticks are from Hobby Lobby and are supposed to look like wheat. I also used these sticks in my seasonal wreath update!

5. Something Fun

This one I put together for my kids. Bugs found these scarecrows at Walmart and I figured I’d put them on the table for him.

I took the jars from Target, placed the scarecrows in and then hydrangeas in the center to balance it out. Then just scattered all the pumpkins around.

None of these tablescapes are very involved. I tried to keep it simple and classy and really doable!
