A few weeks ago I met my sister and her kids at the river for Spring Break! I barely ever get to see them, and I had been wanting to try a color shoot for a while, so I figured this was the perfect opportunity. I got to have some fun with my niece and nephew and try out a new type of photography.
I’m not going to lie, I’ve really been wanting to do this after seeing pictures from some of the color runs. They look like so much fun, but I am just not a runner. So I had been researching how to have a color fight and thought it would make for a great photoshoot. The color powder I actually made myself out of Cornstarch. There are some tutorials on eHow if you wanted to try to make it for yourself. Since this powder was not as vibrant once thrown as I would have liked, I have actually bought some colored powder from Amazon for another shoot, but I still think the pictures turned out great!
My lovely niece is growing up so fast! She wanted me to take a few glamor pictures of her before we started the color shoot. So I took her around the yard and took some photos of her. Doesn’t she just look beautiful! I can’t believe how fast she is growing up! She had stolen my sunglasses and wanted them on in all the photos as well.
My nephew wanted to get in on the photos too and gave me some action poses.
They had so much fun throwing the powder at one another. The powder is so fine that it creates a fine mist when thrown in the air. I had them wear glasses so that the powder wouldn’t get in their eyes. They got powder everywhere and really got into it. I loved this shoot because they could just be their crazy selves and the photos really show their personalities. My nephew is just a crazy little boy who is very active and my niece is photogenic and loves the camera, as you can see she is always looking at it.
After all the powder was gone I wanted to get some cute pics of the two of them with the powder all over them. I asked them to look at one another and be cute and they ended up in a mini wrestle. It was adorable and made for some great photographs!
They are both so sweet and so much fun! I am super thankful that I got the opportunity to have fun with them and that I now have these super awesome photos.
