I love weddings! Especially ones that are perfectly personalized to the couple. This pirate wedding wishes jar is the perfect personalized piece!

As you know I planned my best friends bridal shower. It was a pirate theme.

I had so much fun planning this bridal shower and I wanted every aspect of it to reflect my friends. That’s why I made so many elements of the bridal shower, including the table decorations and card box.

How to Make a Pirate Wedding Wishes Jar

But I wanted people to be able to write advice and wishes for the soon to be newlyweds. Something that she could keep, sort of like a guest book, but not quite.

I thought doing something like a message in a bottle would be so cute! And that’s how this idea was born – a pirate wedding wishes jar.

I actually created two different bottles. The first one I created for her bridal shower and I used a Tito’s Vodka bottle. It looked pirate-y enough and I had an empty one on hand.

She asked me to create the second one to use at their wedding. They didn’t want to have to take the scrolls out of the first one, so asked me to make them another. She found a cool pirate-y bottle at Michaels, and I used that.

This was a super simple project to make and took almost no time at all! I love easy projects like this.

I got the sand, gems, jewels, and charm for the bottle all from Michaels. It was fun to walk through the store and pick everything out.

For the paper for the scrolls I bought some antique paper from Amazon. It helped to make the scrolls look old and really added to the pirate feel!

For the label, I used the same technique that I had used on my bath salts jar in my bathroom! I love using this technique. You only need a printer and tape and it’s so easy to do!

How to Make a Pirate Wedding Wishes Jar

Materials

• For Bottle:
• Tito's Vodka Bottle or Other Pirate looking bottle
• Water and Vinegar
• Rope
• Brown Paper Bag
• Label
• Charm
• For Inside:
• Sand
• Gems and Jewels
• Pearls
• Fake Coins
• For Scrolls:
• Antique Paper

Tools

• Hot Glue
• Scissors
• Mod Podge
• Match/Lighter
• Funnel
• Skewer or other long stick

Instructions

1. For Tito's Vodka Bottle: Soak the label of the Tito's Vodka Bottle in vinegar and water. I soaked mine overnight. Peel just the top layer of the label off so that you can't read the Tito's logo anymore. Leave some of the brown label showing. You can use this to affix your own label on top of later.
2. For Regular Bottle: Cut out the brown paper bag or antique paper into a rectangle. Line it up to make sure it will fit your bottle. Burn the edges of the antique paper. Make sure to do this over the sink! Then use the Mod Podge to affix the antique paper to your bottle
3. Add the charm the the rope. Wrap the rope around the neck of the bottle a couple times, cut and tie off, you can use the hot glue to secure the rope to the bottle.
4. Use the funnel to add the sand into the bottle. Fill it up 1/3 of the way, leaving ample room for the scrolls. Then add in your gems and pearls to the bottle. You can use the skewer to maneuver the gems around once they are in the bottle.
5. Cut the antique paper into strips and roll to look like scrolls.
6. Affix a label onto the front.

Notes

If you use the Roylco paper for printing, make sure to take the perforated edges off before printing.
