It’s 2017 ya’ll!! Can you even believe it? I feel like every year just goes by faster and faster. While I try to evaluate my life all throughout the year, the coming of a new year seems like a good time to really kick my butt into gear and think about what I’m doing. So since it’s now officially 2017, I thought I would share some of my goals with you, as well as some big changes coming in this year.
This year I tried to be really specific with my goals. Normally, I’ll just write down more abstract goals. I’ll write “save more” or “spend less”, and these are hard to quantify. I also made a little printable and then printed out my goals for this year. I hung them in my bedroom so every morning I’m able to look at them and remind myself of what I’m doing. I made personal and professional goals, and they are pretty lofty.
I thought a lot about our 5 year plan when making these goals. I’ve been listening to Dave Ramsey and we’ve been trying to follow his steps. We started using everydollar.com and it has helped us so much. We’re really trying to save for a house, we also have a big trip to D.C. coming up this year to visit family, and babies are really expensive. So it’s more important than ever for us to keep on track.
In 2015, I did a 365 project that was so much fun. But it was also a whole lot of work. I had every intention of continuing it for 2016, but with a new baby it just wasn’t realistic. After seeing some amazing projects that were completed by fellow photographers in 2016, I’ve decided to attempt it again. With a son whose always on the move, I have no doubt that I’ll be able to capture some priceless memories.
Our main goal is for this business to be full time so that I can stay home with our kids. While I love my current job, it’s not what I want to be doing in 10 years time. Plus, the extra time with our kids and the flexibility that this business will allow us is priceless. These goals will definitely push me, but it’s something I feel confident that if I put in the time I can achieve them. These professional goals lead me right into the big changes!!
You may have noticed some slight changes to the website over the past few weeks. In November, I started a class with a business coach and my husband listened in on some of the lessons. He decided he wanted to be a much bigger part of this business and that we should expand. I have always had a love for crafts and have made many things for our family. I’m always the one making handmade gifts for Christmas and birthdays and trying to document our family life as best I know how. So we’re going to be launching an Etsy store in the middle of January.
We’ll be selling handmade items and printables. There will also be a lot more free printables and downloads featured on the blog, like the open when letters and 2017 calendar. John is also going to be blogging on a regular basis, and I have some guest bloggers lined up for the new year as well. All of these changes will hopefully help us reach our goals faster and will provide our you valuable content to help you create and document memories of your family.
